Turkish language courses are given to students in all departments of our university providing undergraduate and associate degree education except for the students of the Department of Turkish Language and Literature in accordance with Article 5/1 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547 in our university. “Turkish Language” course is a two-semester course in which students are given two credits each.
The main objective of the course is to improve verbal and written expression power based on comprehension, analysis, creative thinking and critical interpretation. It is one of our fundamental principles to gain a high level of language awareness, language pleasure including language aesthetics, and most importantly, love of mother tongue.
The course content aims to provide the students with the ability to use Turkish language correctly and effectively and it is possible to summarize "to get information about the origins of the Turkish language, to recognize the language families of the world and the sound structure of the Turkish language, to use the spelling and punctuation marks of Turkish in place, to acquire the habit of using the dictionary and spelling guide, the ability to use Turkish effectively and to gain the habit of reading”.
First-year students of faculties and colleges of İstanbul Yeni Yüzyıl University to cover two semesters, TRD 151 Turkish Language 1 and TRD 152 Turkish Language are 2 hours a week with distance education method.
