Master's Program of Department of Biomedical Engineering with thesis has been started at 2010-2011 Fall semester. The program language is Turkish.

The outcomes of the Biomedical Engineering Graduate Program; Have wide and in-depth knowledge in a special area of Biomedical Engineering, obtain the broad education and having a creative perspective necessary to understand the impact of engineering solutions in global, environmental and social context and effective use of engineering education in the field of life sciences


General Information

Biomedical engineering is an interdisciplinary field which uses the knowledge and technology of medical, fundamntal sciences and engineering fields to diagnoise nd treat the medical problems of biological systems. The field of biomedical engineering has seen a dramatic escalation in activity over the past 20 years leading to the development of a wide variety of medical devices, medical procedures, and a basic understanding of biological processes.

İt is not easy to understand live systems due to their complexity. As a response to its complexity, biomedical engineers are responsible for producing high technology medical equipment and biological instrumentation, for devising new and efficient methods for physiological measurements, medical data processing and analysis, for developing prosthetic materials and artificial organs, and for introducing the suitable technological developments to the health care system. with the collaboration of doctors, scientists and engineers


Program Profile

The aim of the program is to specialize biomedical engineers responding to the needs of the industry and the health system. The program provides a qualitative and a comprehensive higher education opportunity to the candidates that are thinking about a career in biomedical engineering. The students from many fields can be accepted the graduate program provided as the admission requirements are satisfied. Candidates get a degree of Master of Science (MSc) in Biomedical Engineering after the graduation requirements and regulations are completed.

Biomedical engineers work with a wide range of medical, technical and administrative staff and, at times, patients. Typical employers of biomedical engineers; hospitals, universities, research organisations, and diagnostic/medical instrumentation manufacturers.

Master's Program of Department of Biomedical Engineering with thesis has been started at 2010-2011 Fall semester. The program language is Turkish. However, some of the courses can also be taught in English. The aim of the program is to train qualified biomedical engineers according to the need of medical industry and health care system. In addition to Industry, the program also aims to educate the motivated canditates who may think about a research in the academic field.

Recognition of Prior Courses

The program can recognize the courses that are taken previously from other graduate programs or universities. The course load of the candidate is decided by the Board of Directors of Institute. The decision of the recognized courses are upon the content of the courses, recommendation of the advisor and the opinion of the Head of the Biomedical Engineering Department.

For the evaluation of recognition of the courses, candidate must present the following documents;

  • Applicant petition
  • Transcripts
  • Syllabus of courses

The compulsory or elective courses of students that enroll in an Exchange Program of the related universities can also be approved after the evaluation of the Board of Directors of Institute. Credit transfer request can be done in the first week of each semester.


Application Requirements of the Graduate Program

  • Candidate should submit a Completed Application form,
  • Candidate should complete the described 4-year undergraduate program
  • Graduate Entrance Examination (ALES) score (with a minimum of 55 score)
  • Candidate should be succesfull in Interview and English Proficieny Exam conducted by the Instutite
  • The university fees determined by the institute should be paid before the registration.

  • The original or notarized copy of Bachelor / Master's degree diploma,
  • The official transcript of the attended schools,
  • A registered copy of Candidate identity
  • Military status certificate,
  • Passport photo, 6 pieces

Graduation Requirements and Regulations

  • Students must graduate with a minimum of 120 ECTS credits.
  • It is compulsory to finish 7 Graduate Courses with a minimum of 52.5 ECTS to complete Master's Program.
  • Seminar course (7.5 ECTS) and Thesis Courses in 2 semester (30 + 30 = 60 ECTS) are compulsory.
  • The GPA cannot be less than 3.00 (in 4.00 letter grade)
  • The grades of the courses cannot not be less than CC.
  • The program language is "Turkish".
