Istanbul Yeni Yüzyıl University is a foundation university established in accordance with the law numbered 5839, on 19th February 2009, by "Vatan Sağlık ve Eğitim Vakfı (VASEV)" in Istanbul.
Having been founded in 2009 with 10 faculties, 2 vocational schools and 3 institutes, it first started providing education with 7 faculties, 2 vocational schools and 860 students in 2010-2011 Academic Year.
Istanbul Yeni Yüzyıl University aims to bring the scientists needed by the society into the country and to become a higher education institution and centre of excellence connected to Atatürk's principles and reforms, aiming to educate knowledgeable, contemporary, equipped and experienced young people who are useful to the society.
Taking into account the developments in the world, our university considers itself responsible for the upbringing of the workforce trained at associate, undergraduate, graduate and doctoral level to exceed the level of civilization academically and technologically and to contribute to researches and studies. To this end, Istanbul Yeni Yüzyıl University provides universal education in different disciplines in cooperation with stakeholders such as government institutions, private sector and civil society institutions and organizations with its expert and experienced academic staff.
Our vision is to train graduates who are wanted at the global level, to reach the position of a university that can direct academic studies in its field with its publications and to become a center of excellence and research and development institution that seeks cooperation in all kinds of scientific activities.
Since its foundation, our university has had a powerful native and foreign teaching staff who are well known for their successful studies in their fields. Education and teaching are maintained with 589 academicians in total, as 96 professors, 30 associate professors, 188 assistant professors, 65 research assistants and 22 instructors in and out of the institution.
As of 2018-2019 Academic Year, our university has 10 faculties and 2 vocational schools of higher education, one of which is the Vocational School of Health. While the faculties consist of 27 departments, our university has 25 associate degree programs in total with Vocational School of Health including 16 programs and the Vocational School of Higher Education including 9 programs.
In addition to these, the university has 3 institutes that offer graduate education. The Institute of Social Sciences involves 10 master’s degree programs, the Institute of Health Sciences offers 5 master’s degree programs and the Institute of Science and Technology offers 1 master’s degree program. Our university also offers 2 doctorate programs.
The language of education in our university is Turkish except for 3 departments. English is used as the language of education in “English Language and Literature” and “English Translation and Interpreting” departments of Faculty of Science and Letters and in “Nutrition and Dietetics” department of Faculty of Health Sciences. Also, the students from other departments can optionally attend English Preparation School.
Students can have the opportunity to get a double diploma by attending Double Major programmes on a department or faculty different from their own field by meeting the necessary requirements. As of 2017-2018 Academic Year, the same opportunity has also been implemented for the students of Vocational School of Higher Education and Vocational School of Health Services.
If our students meet the necessary requirements, they can also get a certificate of expertise in a second field by attending “Minor Degree” programme, which provides proficiency in a different department or programme.
Our university was awarded Erasmus Charter in the first year of its foundation. Therefore, our students have the opportunity to study in 46 countries in Europe within the framework of Erasmus program for one or two semesters during their undergraduate education. In a similar way, our academicians and administrative staff can benefit from this program to represent our university and country abroad, to give lectures and exchange information at international level. Our university has also signed the “Momerandum of Understading” with universities in 3 different countries.
There have been various student clubs whose numbers are increasing depending on the interests of the students since the first year of our university. As of 2018-2019 Academic Year, there are 49 student clubs which are active in different fields.
The main campus of our university is “Dr. Azmi Ofluoğlu Campus” located in Topkapı, Istanbul. A significant part of education and training is provided here; moreover, executive offices are located in this campus. Topkapı Dr. Azmi Ofluoğlu Campus consists of two separate buildings: main building and annex. 7-storey main building has an area of 37,445 m2 and 10-storey annex has an area of 20,000 m2. In both of our buildings, there are executives’ and instructors’ offices, classrooms, an increasing number of health, science and computer laboratories built according to educational needs, workshops, TV, radio and photo studios, library, conference room, dance hall, dining hall, cafes. In Cevizlibağ Campus, in relation to “Life Sciences”, there are "Life Sciences and Technologies Laboratory" and "Forensic Sciences Laboratory" in which projects of many disciplines such as Medicine, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Biomedical Engineering, Nutrition and Dietetics, Pharmacy, Forensic Genetics are carried out.
The Faculty of Dentistry of our university serves as a faculty and hospital of dentistry in the European side of Istanbul in Sütlüce-Halıcıoğlu for education and dental health. In this campus with 8-storey building, there are academic and administrative units, classrooms, 8 clinics with 60 dental units, laboratories, central sterilization facilities, operating room, emergency room and local surgery areas for small surgical procedures, conference room, library, cafeteria and dining hall in total 3800 m2 closed area and it provides the students of Faculty of Dentistry with education and training, and opportunity to practice and public service for dental health.
Our another campus, Istanbul Yeni Yüzyıl University Gaziosmanpaşa Hospital, also including Faculty of Medicine, is located in Gaziosmanpaşa in the European side of Istanbul. In Yeni Yüzyıl University Faculty of Medicine Gaziosmanpaşa Hospital, students can serve their internship, especially in the 3rd, 4th and 5th grades of medical education and training.
Gaziosmanpaşa Hospital serves to our students’ practical training with 117 polyclinics, 12 surgery rooms, 254 sickrooms and 336 total numbers of beds on 59.827 m2 area. There is also a library which is located on 180 m2 area with books and online services for our students and academicians.
The hospital was accredited by “Joint Commission International” in 2017.
Our latest campus is ‘Şirinevler Campus’ which is located in Şirinevler, İstanbul. In this campus, the training programs of Istanbul Yeni Yüzyıl University Continuing Education Research and Application Center (YENİSEM) are carried out.
